A pigeon with an injured shoulder was found by famous Hollywood star Shannon Elizabeth (American Pie, That '70s Show), working for her organization Animal Avengers. She took the pigeon to Wild Bird Fund, an organization specialized in the care of birds. A local vet determined it was an old injury and didn't hurt anymore, he could not fly with it though, so it was quite remarkable this smart pigeon managed to stay alive and find food. The pigeon was very calm during the vet inspection so they decided it would be best that Derek as he was called would live as someone's house pet.
