Herd Of Sperm Whales Freed From Nets

Rescue
This video from August 2004 shows a herd of sperm whales of which some were entangled in big fishing nets. Most of them got the net stuck on their tail, not allowing them to swim. It's a good thing they were discovered as they would've starved to death if it had taken too long. A couple of brave divers from the Italian Coast Guard got in with scissors to carefully cut through as much of the ropes as they could. During the first day of cutting, the coast guard managed to free two animals, but loyal as they are, the group remained together. The next day, the divers returned to finish the job and slowly but surely, all whales were set free.
