The tuarta is a reptile endemic to New Zealand, it's the only surviving member of it's order that flourished around 200 million years ago, during the dinosaur age, they're closely related to lizards. A tuartaras' eggs hatch after 16 months, the baby predators immediately need to fend for themselves. Besides having to watch out for adult tuataras, they have many more enemies.
