Seagull With Fishing Hook In Throat

December 20, 2018
Rescue
A woman found a seagull that wasn't able to move due to a fishing line around it's body and neck. When brought to Wildlife Aid, the team found out the hook at the end of the line was stuck in the bird's throat. The gull was not that happy with all the people messing around in it's mouth. After an x-ray was made, they noticed the hook was loged very deep and surgery was needed to remove it. During an endoscopic surgery, they moved in there with a microscope and managed to take it out very slowly. After the surgery, the bird got a week to heal before it was released outside again!
